Whether you import data into Google Sheets or manually enter it, you can have situations where you need to change or correct text. Using the Google Sheets text functions on our list, you can save time by making several changes quickly and at once.

Convert a Number to Text: TEXT

Starting with a simple way to convert a number to text using a specified format is the TEXT function. You can use it for a date, time, percentage, currency, or similar number.

The syntax for the formula is TEXT(number, format), where you can use the exact number or a cell reference for the first argument. Depending on the format you want to use, you can visit the Google Docs Editors Help page for the list of over a dozen options for the second argument.

As an example, we’ll format the time 22:30 in a 12-hour format with AM or PM and as text using this formula:

=TEXT(“22:30”,”hh:mm AM/PM”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 17

For another example, we’ll format the number in cell A1 as text with a percent sign using this formula:

=TEXT(A1,”0%”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 18

Combine Text: CONCATENATE

If you want to join two strings of text, you can use the CONCATENATE function. You may have a first name and last name, city and state, or similar that you want to combine into a single cell.

The syntax is CONCATENATE(string1, string2,…), where you can use the text or cell references for the arguments.

In this example, we’ll combine the text in cells A1 through D1 into a single string with this formula:

=CONCATENATE(A1:D1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 19

If you want to place a space between the words, you can insert a blank space within quotation marks between each cell reference using this formula:

=CONCATENATE(A1,” “,B1,” “,C1,” “,D1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 1

For another example, we’ll combine the text “First name: ” with the text in cell A1 with this formula:

=CONCATENATE(“First name: “,A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 20

Combine Text With a Delimiter: TEXTJOIN

The TEXTJOIN function is similar to CONCATENATE for combining text. The difference is that you can use a delimiter (separator) and combine arrays with TEXTJOIN.

The syntax is TEXTJOIN(delimiter, empty, text1, text2,…). For the delimiter argument, place the space, comma, or other delimiter in quotes and for the empty argument, use True to exclude empty cells or False to include them.

As an example, we’ll join the text in the cell range A1 through C2 with a space as the delimiter and TRUE to ignore the empty cell (A2). Here’s the formula:

=TEXTJOIN(” “,TRUE,A1:C2)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 2

For another example, we’ll combine the text in cells A1 through A10 with a comma as the delimiter and FALSE to include the empty cells (A4 through A8) so you can see how the result looks. Here’s the formula:

=TEXTJOIN(“,”,FALSE,A1:A10)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 3

Tip: If you want to combine numbers, you can use the JOIN function.

Separate Text: SPLIT

Maybe you want to do the opposite of the above and separate text rather than combine it. For this, you can use the SPLIT function.

The syntax is SPLIT(text, delimiter, split_by, empty). Use the split_by argument with True (default) to separate the text around each character in the delimiter, otherwise use False. Use the empty argument with True (default) to treat consecutive delimiters as one, otherwise use False.

Here, we’ll split the text in cell A1 using a space as the delimiter and the defaults for the other arguments with this formula:

=SPLIT(A1,” “)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 4

For another example, we’ll split the text in cell A1 using “t” as the delimiter. This removes the “t” like it removes the space delimiter above and leaves the rest of the text. Here’s the formula:

=SPLIT(A1,”t”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 21

Now, if we add FALSE as the split_by argument, this formula separates the text only at the “t[space]” mark:

=SPLIT(A1,”t “,FALSE)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 22

Compare Text: EXACT

Are you working on comparing data in your sheet? Using the EXACT function, you can compare two strings of text and receive a simple True or False result for whether they match or not.

The syntax is EXACT(text1, text2), where you can use text or cell references for the arguments.

As an example, we’ll compare the two text strings in cells A1 and B1 with this formula:

=EXACT(A1,B1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 5

For another example, we’ll compare the text in cell A1 with “Google” using this formula:

=EXACT(A1,”Google”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 6

Change Text: REPLACE and SUBSTITUTE

While you can use the Find and Replace feature in Google Sheets, you may need to be more specific than the feature allows. For instance, you might want to change a letter in a particular spot or only a certain instance of text in a string. In this case, you can use either REPLACE or SUBSTITUTE.

Although similar, each function works slightly differently, so you can use whichever meets your needs best.

The syntax for each is REPLACE(text, position, length, new) and SUBSTITUTE(text, search_for, replace_with, occurrence). Let’s walk through a couple of examples and how to use the arguments.

REPLACE

Here, we want to replace “William H Brown” with “Bill Brown,” so we’ll use the REPLACE function and this formula:

=REPLACE(A1,1,9,”Bill”)

To break down the formula, A1 is the cell with the text, 1 is the starting position to replace, 9 is the number of characters to replace, and Bill is the replacement text.

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 7

As another example, we have phone numbers stored as text and need to change the prefix for each. Since each prefix is different, we can use REPLACE to specify the position and number of characters for the replacement. Here’s the formula:

=REPLACE(A1,5,3,”222″)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 8

Tip: To change multiple cells in a column, you can drag the formula down to apply it to the subsequent rows as shown below.

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 9

SUBSTITUTE

For an example of the SUBSTITUTE function, we want to replace “new york” with “New York” and will add the occurrence argument to make sure we only change the first instance in our string. Here’s the formula:

=SUBSTITUTE(A1,”new york”,”New York”,1)

To break down this formula, A1 contains the text, “new york” is the text we search for, “New York” is the replacement, and 1 is the first occurrence of the text.

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 10

If you were to remove the occurrence argument in the above formula, the function would change both instances to “New York” by default as you can see here:

=SUBSTITUTE(A1,”new york”,”New York”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 23

Change the Letter Case: PROPER, UPPER, and LOWER

If you import data from another source or mistype during data entry, you may end up with mismatched letter cases. Using the PROPER, UPPER, and LOWER functions, you can quickly correct it.

The syntax for each is simple as PROPER(text), UPPER(text), and LOWER(text) where you can use a cell reference or the text for the argument.

To capitalize the first letter of each word in a text string, you can use the PROPER function and this formula:

=PROPER(A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 24

To change the letters to all uppercase, use the UPPER function and this formula:

=UPPER(A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 25

To change the letters to all lower case, use the LOWER function and this formula:

=LOWER(A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 11

Remember, you can also enter the exact text for all three functions within quotes as follows:

=PROPER(“online tech TIPS”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 12

Obtain Part of a Text String: LEFT, RIGHT, and MID

Maybe you need to extract part of a text string. You may have data mixed in with other data or want to use a portion of a string for something in particular. You can use the LEFT, RIGHT, and MID functions to get the part you need.

The syntax for each is LEFT(string, num_characters), RIGHT(string, num_characters), and MID(string, start, length). You can use a cell reference or the text as the string argument in each.

For an example of the LEFT function, we’ll extract the first three characters from the left using the text in cell A1 with this formula:

=LEFT(A1,3)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 26

For an example of the RIGHT function, we’ll extract the first four characters from the right using the same cell with this formula:

=RIGHT(A1,4)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 13

For an example of the MID function, we’ll extract the name “Jane” from the text in the same cell.

=MID(A1,6,4)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 14

In this MID example, a 6 for the start argument selects the 6th character from the left. Remember that all characters count, including spaces and punctuation. Then, a 4 for the length argument selects four characters.

Get the Length of a Text String: LEN and LENB

When you plan to do something specific with your data, such as copy and paste or export it for use elsewhere, you might need to be cautious about the character count. With LEN, you can get the number of characters in a text string, and with LENB, you can get the count in bytes.

The syntax for each is LEN(string) and LENB(string), where again, you can use a cell reference or text as the argument.

Here, we’ll get the character count for the text in cell A1 with this formula:

=LEN(A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 27

With this formula, we’ll get the character count for the text in cell A1 but as bytes instead:

=LENB(A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 28

Remove Extra Spaces: TRIM

If you need to clean up your data from leading, trailing, or miscellaneous extra spaces, you can use the TRIM function.

The syntax is TRIM(text), where you can use a cell reference or text for the argument.

Here, we’ll remove the spaces from the text string in cell A1 with this formula:

=TRIM(A1)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 15

Next, we’ll remove extra spaces from the specific text “ Online Tech Tips” with this formula:

=TRIM( “Online Tech Tips”)

15+ Simple Google Sheets Text Functions image 16

Tackle Your Text With Google Sheets Functions

Google Sheets offers many features for working with text. You can wrap text, change the format, hyperlink it, and more. However, when you have a lengthy dataset, the Google Sheets text functions can help you tackle your text changes quicker and more efficiently. Will you give one or two a try?

For related tutorials, look at how to use Google Sheets formulas for arrays.

Spotify has plenty of songs, artists, and podcasts to choose from, but perhaps you fancy a change in mood, or you’ve just found a song you don’t like.

That’s why you should manage your Spotify queue. Your Spotify queue is a list of songs and podcasts scheduled to play next. You can add items to your queue but, more importantly, you can clear your Spotify queue to help you start over with a fresh list of items to play.

If you want to know how to clear your Spotify queue, follow the steps below.

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 1

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue on a PC or Mac

You can easily clear all of the scheduled songs or podcasts in your Spotify queue using the desktop app or web player. The steps are the same for both Spotify clients, so to clear your Spotify queue on a PC or Mac, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Spotify app or web player and sign in.
  2. Click the queue icon in the bottom-right corner. The icon has three horizontal lines, with a larger line at the top.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 2
  1. To remove an individual item from the queue, press the three-dot menu icon next to the item and press Remove from queue. This will leave the other items intact.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 3
  1. To clear all of the items from your Spotify queue, press the Clear queue button.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 4
  1. You’ll be asked to confirm your choice if you’re using the web player—press Yes in the pop-up box to confirm.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 5

Once you’ve cleared your entire Spotify queue, you can’t turn back—you’ll need to re-add the items or add new ones. This won’t affect any playlists you’ve previously created, so you can always open up your playlist and start playing it to restore those items to your queue instead.

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue on Android

You can also clear your Spotify queue if you prefer to use the mobile app on Android, iPhone, or iPad devices. The interface is very similar on all platforms, and the steps to clear your queue are identical.

Like the Spotify desktop and web apps, you can remove individual items from your queue, or clear the entire Spotify queue in one go. To clear your Spotify queue on Android, iPhone, or iPad, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Spotify app and sign in.
  2. Play a song or podcast, making sure the album art and playback controls are visible on the screen.
  3. Tap the queue icon in the bottom-right corner (the icon with three horizontal lines).
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 6
  1. Tap the circle icon next to each song or podcast that you want to remove to select them.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 7
  1. When you’re ready to clear them from your queue, tap the Remove button in the bottom-left corner.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 8
  1. To clear all of the items from your queue, tap Clear queue in the top-right corner and wait a few seconds for the items to clear.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 9

As with PC and Mac users, removing items from your Spotify queue isn’t reversible. You’ll need to start playing content on Spotify again to restore items to your queue.

Managing Your Spotify Queue

Clearing your Spotify queue is a simple way to change what you’re listening to—just clear the items and start playing new ones. It isn’t a permanent change, as Spotify is designed to allow you to switch between the things you want to listen to when you want to listen to them.

Want to have some fun with Spotify? You can switch to Spotify karaoke mode to sing along with your friends. If you’re worried about the cost, you could think about Spotify Duo, a subscription for two people to help make it more affordable (or switch to Spotify’s free plan instead).

If you want to delete your order history from Amazon, it can be difficult. We’ll explain the steps you’ll need to take to deal with your Amazon order history below.

Deleting Order History from Amazon: All You Need to Know image 1

Can You Delete Your Order History on Amazon?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to delete your order history on Amazon. Amazon doesn’t allow you to completely delete your order history, as it keeps a record of everything you’ve ever bought from the site. This includes any orders that you’ve cancelled or previously returned to Amazon.

However, some workarounds can help you hide your Amazon orders from prying eyes. The best method is to archive your orders instead, which hides them from view (but doesn’t delete them). You can also try other methods, such as using an Amazon household account or even deleting your account.

How to Archive Your Amazon Orders

As we’ve mentioned, the best method for deleting your order history isn’t deleting them at all—it’s archiving them. Archiving an order doesn’t delete it, but it moves it to a separate page that remains less visible, but still accessible. You can archive up to 500 orders per account.

Because the items are only hidden, it isn’t a foolproof method, as anyone who knows how to access the archived orders page can still see them. If you bought something that you don’t want others who share your account to see, archiving it might not be enough to stop them seeing it.

However, if you want to archive your Amazon order, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Amazon website in your web browser on your PC or Mac and sign in.
  2. Press Returns & Orders in the top-right corner.
Deleting Order History from Amazon: All You Need to Know image 2
  1. Find the order you want to hide in your order list.
  2. Press Archive order in the bottom-left corner of the order box.

  1. Confirm that you want to archive the order by pressing the Archive order button again in the pop-up window.

  1. The order will disappear from your main order history page and move to the archived orders page. To access this page, select Account & Lists > Your Account.

  1. Next, scroll to the Ordering and shopping preferences section and press the Archived Orders option.

  1. To unarchive an order on the Archived Orders page, find the order you want to restore and press the Unarchive Order button. The order will reappear on your main order history page.

Other Methods for Keeping Your Amazon Orders Hidden

The quickest way to hide an Amazon order is to archive it. However, there are a few other methods you can try that bring you closer to completely deleting your order history. These include:

  • Using an Amazon Household account. This will allow you to share some of the Prime benefits and purchased digital content with another adult and up to four children or teens in your household while keeping your own order history and payment methods separate.
  • Creating a new Amazon account. If you create a new Amazon account with a different email address and payment method, you’ll have a fresh order list that won’t show any other orders. You’ll lose access to your Prime benefits and any purchased digital content from your main account, however.
  • Deleting your Amazon account. Sounds drastic, but this method is the closest you can get to deleting your Amazon order history to stop it from being visible to others. You’ll lose everything on your existing Amazon account, however, including previous digital purchases, so you’ll need to be sure if it’s the best option for your circumstances.

Managing Your Amazon Order History

Without the ability to delete your order history from Amazon, you’ll need to use the workarounds we’ve described above to help you instead. Archiving your orders remains the best option, but if you need a more drastic solution, you can always make a new Amazon account instead.

Curious to learn more about your order history on Amazon? You can download your Amazon order history to review it in a spreadsheet. If you’ve been locked out, you can recover your Amazon account by contacting Amazon support.

Want to buy gifts through Amazon for your friends and family? You may need to find their Amazon wishlists first to start making purchases.

Twitter, or X, is still one of the most popular social media platforms around. If you’re trying to access Twitter and experiencing issues, there could be various reasons for this, from your VPN service interfering with connectivity to system bugs, using an outdated version of Chrome, or a Twitter outage. If Twitter won’t work in Chrome, what can you do to fix the problem? We’ve got 13 fixes to try.

Restart Your PC

When Twitter won’t work in Chrome, a quick restart of your PC may solve the problem. Try restarting your PC to see if the issue is fixed.

Restart Google Chrome

If Twitter isn’t working, you could try restarting Chrome.

  1. Click the X in the top right of the Google Chrome window to close it.
  2. Wait a few minutes, then open Google Chrome again and see if the issue persists.

Try Browsing In Incognito Mode

If none of the above fixes have worked for you, why not try browsing in incognito mode? Google Chrome’s incognito mode — known as private browsing on some other browsers — could help resolve the issue with Twitter if it’s caused by connectivity issues.

Update Google Chrome

You could always try updating Google Chrome to ensure you’re running the latest version. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Launch Google Chrome.
  2. Click the three vertical dots menu at the top right of your screen.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. From the left-hand menu, choose About Chrome.
  5. Chrome should now automatically check for and install any new updates.

Check if Twitter Is Down

If Twitter won’t work in Chrome, it could be caused by something as simple as a Twitter outage. You can check to see if Twitter is down by visiting DownDetector — though if there’s an outage, you’ll have to sit tight and wait for Twitter to fix the problem.

Restart Your Router

Sometimes a router restart can resolve any issues accessing Twitter or other sites if the problem is caused by poor internet connectivity. If your router has a power button, press it and wait for it to finish turning off. Once it’s powered off, unplug it from the mains, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on to see if the issue persists.

Disable Chrome Extensions

Chrome Extensions can come in pretty handy for a variety of tasks, but they can also cause conflicts which could interfere with Twitter loading properly, for example if they’re corrupt or have a bug. You can disable Chrome extensions to see if this resolves the issue connecting to Twitter.

  1. Launch Google Chrome and click the three vertical dots menu at the top right of your screen.
  2. Select Extensions > Manage Extensions.
  3. Find the extension you suspect is the culprit — for example, it may be a recently installed extension — and toggle it off.
  4. You can try this for each extension in turn until you locate the issue, or turn them all off to see if this solves the problem.

Clear Your Browser Cache

Clearing your browser cache can fix a variety of issues, so if something goes wrong while accessing Twitter, here’s how to clear your browser cache:

  1. Launch Google Chrome and click the three vertical dots menu at the top right.
  2. Select More Tools.
  3. Click Clear Browsing Data.
  1. Select the Time Range, or choose All Time to delete everything, then click Clear Data. Make sure that browsing history, download history, cookies & other site data, and cached images & files are all checked.

Reset Chrome Browser

It may seem like a fairly drastic option, but you could always reset Google Chrome. This resets all Google Chrome’s settings to factory mode, and here’s how to do it:

  1. Launch Google Chrome.
  2. Click on the three vertical dots menu and then click Settings.
  3. From the left-hand menu, select Reset Settings.
  1. Select Restore Settings to Their Original Defaults > Reset Settings.

Disable Your VPN

If you use a VPN to protect your IP address, you may be unable to access Twitter or location-specific Twitter content. Disabling your VPN could help. The steps to do this will vary depending on the VPN you’re using.

Disable Your Antivirus Program

We don’t necessarily recommend disabling your antivirus, but if Twitter won’t work in Chrome, you could give it a try. If your antivirus software is flagging Twitter as a threat, it may not load properly. Don’t forget to enable your antivirus again once you’ve finished on Twitter.

A better long-term solution is to add Twitter as an exception or mark it as safe so that your antivirus doesn’t prevent access. The steps to do this will depend on which antivirus software you’re using, but you’ll usually find this information in your antivirus software’s help pages.

Turn Off Proxy Servers

If you’re still experiencing issues with Twitter in Google Chrome, you could try turning off proxy servers in Chrome. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click the three vertical dots menu at the top right and select Settings.
  3. From the left-hand menu, choose System.
  4. Select Open Your Computer’s Proxy Settings.
  5. In the Settings window, ensure the toggle for Automatically Detect Settings is set to off.
  6. Under Manual Proxy Setup, ensure the toggle for Use a Proxy Server is off.

Contact Twitter Support

None of the above fixes solved your problem? It’s probably time to contact Twitter support. You might find this is a known issue that’s affecting others too. Even if it’s only affecting you, Twitter support should be able to help and advise what to try next if the above fixes didn’t work for you.

As you can see, there are several fixes to try when Twitter won’t work in Chrome, so there’s no need to panic. Hopefully, you’ll only need to try a few of these fixes before you find one that works for you. Before you go, here are some fixes to try if Twitter isn’t loading or showing pictures.

One thing Samsung smart TVs have in common with other TVs is that they still require a remote control. And like all TV users have found out at one time or another, it’s easy to lose your TV controller.

But if you’ve lost your Samsung TV remote, don’t worry — it’s still possible to control your Samsung TV without it. This guide will explain how to turn on a Samsung TV without a remote.

How to Turn On a Samsung TV Without Remote

There are two easy ways to turn your Samsung smart TV on: change channels and access your TV’s menus without a Samsung remote. Below, we’ll explain how to use these methods to start your TV without a controller.

1. Use the Samsung TV Control Button

According to Samsung, every single Samsung television has a TV control button that allows you to turn it on, access the TV settings, change the volume and input source, and access the Smart Hub. The only differences between Samsung TV models are where this control button is located and whether it’s a single-button or five-button arrangement.

It should be found in one of the three following locations:

  1. At the back of the TV: Check the back of your TV in the bottom-right corner. There should be a small, square section with a control stick poking out of it. Press and hold the center button (the power button) to turn on your Samsung TV without a remote. Single press the middle button again to make the settings appear on your TV screen. Then, change channels and navigate the Samsung TV menus using the control stick.
  1. Under the front panel, in the middle of the TV: Some Samsung TVs have the TV Controller button in the middle of the front bezel, along the bottom of the screen. As above, long-press the power button to turn on the TV, then use the channel and volume buttons to control the TV.
  1. Under the front panel, at the side of the TV: If there’s no physical button in the center of your TV’s front panel, it may be on the left or right-hand side. Check these locations, then control the TV as described above.

Pro tip: Look for the red light on the front bezel of your Samsung TV — this should be where your control button is located. If you can’t find the control panel, no matter how hard you look, consult the user manual; it will explain where to find it and how to use it.

2. Use the SmartThings App

Samsung provides a remote app for iPhone and Android that lets you use your mobile device as a TV remote. The only problem is that to use the SmartThings app to turn your TV on, you’ll need to have set it up previously. If you haven’t, you can still use the Samsung control button (as shown above) to connect the TV to your app for future use.

Here’s how to use the SmartThings app to turn your TV on:

  1. Open the SmartThings app and tap your TV device card.
  2. Press TV on/off.
  3. Select Content search, Remote, Apps, or Search to control your Samsung TV and access the channel you want to watch.

If you haven’t set up the SmartThings app, here’s how to do so:

  1. Download the SmartThings app. If you’re using Android, download it from the Google Play Store. If you’re using an iOS device, try the Apple App Store.
  2. Open the SmartThings app on your mobile phone.
  3. Press the + symbol, then select Add device.
  1. Select Add under Samsung device.
  1. Tap TV.
  1. Choose Start, then select the location.
  1. Tap Next.
  2. Wait for the app to connect to your Samsung TV. If your Samsung TV is from before 2020, you must use a PIN code to validate the connection.

Note: Your Samsung TV will need to be connected to your home Wi-Fi network for the SmartThings app to connect.

One Remote to Control Them All

The good thing about setting your phone up as a TV remote control is that you’ll no longer require that unholy stack of remotes. Instead, you can use your phone as a universal remote and control everything simultaneously.

However, you can always order a replacement remote if this doesn’t cut it for you!

Pinterest is a social media network that allows you to pin images you find online and create boards to inspire and motivate yourself and others. If you’ve spent a fair amount of time pinning items and creating boards on Pinterest, you might decide you want to delete or archive a board. We’ll show you how to delete a board on Pinterest in the iOS and Android apps as well as on the desktop site — plus how to archive a board if that’s better for your needs.

How to Delete Pinterest Boards on the Web

It’s easy to delete a Pinterest board you no longer need on the Pinterest desktop site. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to Pinterest.com (or whichever site you usually visit for your country).
  2. Log into your Pinterest account.
  3. Click your profile picture at the top right.
  4. Find the board you want to delete and click to open it.
  5. Click the three dots to the right of the board name.
  6. Select Edit Board.
  7. Scroll down and select Delete Board.
  8. Click Delete to confirm you want to delete the board.
  9. Your Pinterest board should now be deleted!

How to Delete a Board on Pinterest on the iOS/Android App

If you’re using the Pinterest iOS or Android app, it’s just as easy to delete a board you are done with. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Pinterest app on your device and log in.
  2. Tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
  3. Tap the board you want to delete.
  4. Tap the three dots at the top right, and select Edit Board.
  5. Scroll down and tap Delete.
  6. Confirm you want to delete this board by tapping Delete again.

How to Restore a Deleted Pinterest Board

Don’t panic if you delete a board by accident or decide you still need the board. It’s easy to restore deleted Pinterest boards. Note that you can’t restore boards via the iOS or Android apps, so you’ll need to log into your Pinterest account on a desktop device. Just follow the below steps:

  1. Click your profile picture at the top right of the screen.
  2. Scroll down to Recently Deleted Boards.
  3. Click Restore Boards.
  1. Find the board you want to restore, click it, and click Restore.

How to Archive Boards on Pinterest on the Web

Deleting a board also deletes all of its pins. What if you’re unsure whether you’ll need your board (or its pins) again in the future? It might be better to archive your board rather than delete it. This moves your board to the bottom of your profile, below active boards, and means you can no longer save pins to the board you archived. It also won’t appear on your public profile.

  1. Go to Pinterest.com (or whichever site you usually visit for your country).
  2. Log into your account.
  3. Click your profile picture at the top right.
  4. Click the board you want to archive to open it.
  5. Click the three dots next to the board name.
  6. Select Archive.
  7. To confirm, click Archive again.
  1. To unarchive a board that you need, click on your profile photo, then scroll down to Archived Boards. Click on the board you want to unarchive, then click the three dots next to the board name, and click Unarchive. On the following screen, click Unarchive to confirm.

How to Archive Boards on the Pinterest iOS/Android App

The steps to take to archive boards on the Pinterest mobile app for iOS and Android devices are pretty simple. Here’s how to archive boards you no longer need, but might need later:

  1. Open the Pinterest app and log into your account.
  2. Tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
  3. Tap the board you want to archive.
  4. Tap the three dots menu at the top right.
  1. Select Archive Board, then tap Archive to confirm.
  1. If you change your mind and want to unarchive this board, just look for it at the bottom of your boards, tap the board, tap the three dots menu at the top right, then select Unarchive > Unarchive to confirm.

As you can see, deleting boards on Pinterest is easy to do if you no longer need them — and if you make a mistake and delete a board accidentally or decide you need it again, it’s easy to restore a deleted board. The other alternative is to archive a board so that it’s still accessible when you need it in the future, but not cluttering up the view of your active boards. Amazon gift cards make a great gift for that friend or family member who seems to have everything. If you’ve browsed their Amazon Wishlist but still have no idea what to buy somebody, why not let them choose their gift?

You can send a physical gift card or an eGift card via email when you buy a gift card with Amazon. However, there might be times when you’ve ordered a gift card and realized you made a mistake, you no longer need it, or you’ve sent it to the wrong address or recipient. There’s no need to worry. We’ll show you how to cancel an Amazon gift card order and get a refund.

How to Cancel Amazon Gift Card Order

Unfortunately, Amazon’s policy means that generally speaking, gift card orders can’t be refunded. If you’ve ordered a gift card you no longer want, you’re unlikely to be granted a refund. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. If you ordered a physical gift card and requested that it be shipped to the recipient, you may be able to cancel your order if it hasn’t yet shipped.

How to Cancel a Physical Gift Card Order

If you placed a gift card order by mistake or you’ve ordered a physical gift card and sent it to the wrong address, you might be able to cancel your order. The easiest way to see if you can do this is to go to your orders in your Amazon account. Here’s how to see if you can cancel Amazon gift cards for physical orders.

How to Cancel a Physical Gift Card Order on the Desktop Site

  1. Go to Amazon.com (or the Amazon site for your country).
  2. Log into your Amazon account.
  3. Click Your Account > Your Orders and find the gift card order.
  4. Select View or Edit Order. From here you can also view and print an Amazon receipt, if need be.
  5. If you placed the order in the last 30 minutes, you should see an option to cancel it.
  6. Select Cancel Items.
  1. You’ll be asked, “Are you sure you want to cancel this order?” so select Cancel Selected Items in This Order to continue.
  2. You should see a confirmation at the top of your screen saying “This order has been canceled,” and you should also receive email confirmation of the cancellation.

How to Cancel a Physical Gift Card Order in the Amazon App

You can also cancel your gift card order in the Amazon app, and here’s how to do that.

  1. Launch the Amazon app.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap your account icon.
  3. Tap Your Orders.
  4. Find the gift card order that you want to cancel and tap it.
  1. Select Cancel Order.
  2. Ensure the gift card is checked, then tap Cancel Selected Item. You can also select a cancellation reason from the dropdown menu, if you like.
  3. Once your order has been canceled, it should vanish from your orders list, and you should receive an email confirming the cancellation.

Unfortunately, if you don’t see the option to cancel your order, you’ll need to contact Amazon customer service by phone or chat with a customer service agent to see if your order can be canceled.

Canceling an Amazon eGift Card Order

If you have ordered an eGift card to be delivered instantly to the recipient’s email address and it has never arrived, or if you entered the wrong email address for delivery, you may not be eligible for a refund. This is entirely at the discretion of Amazon’s customer service team, so you’ll need to reach out to Amazon support to see if they can cancel and refund your order or re-send it to the correct recipient.

Contacting Customer Service in the Amazon App

To contact customer service in the app, just follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Amazon app.
  2. Tap the three stacked lines icon at the bottom right.
  3. Scroll down and tap Customer Service.
  4. Under Can I Help with Any of These, select the order you wish to contact customer service about.
  5. Select Cancel Order or any of the other options that apply (for example, Says delivered, but it’s not here.
  6. Scroll down and select I Need More Help, then tap Start Chatting Now to be connected to a customer service agent via live chat.
  7. To speak to someone over the phone, select Request Call Now, and a customer service representative will call you.

How to Contact Customer Service via the Amazon Desktop Site

If you prefer to use the Amazon desktop site to contact customer service, here’s how to do that:

  1. Navigate to Amazon.com (or the Amazon site for your country) and log into your account.
  2. Under Account & Lists, select Your Account.
  3. Scroll down and select the Customer Service tab.
  4. Under Do you need help with a recent item, select your gift card order. If you don’t see your order, select Help with a different item, then select your order.
  5. Or, you can select A delivery, order, or return further down the page under Here are some other things we can help with.
  1. Under OK, how can we help with this item, select Cancel Order, or one of the other options that apply, such as Says delivered but it’s not here.
  2. Scroll down and select I Need More Help.
  3. Select Start Chatting Now to begin a live chat with customer service, or Request Call Now for a customer service agent to call you.

As you can see, if you need to cancel your Amazon gift card and get a refund, you have a couple of options available to you. If you experience any issues canceling your order or need assistance, you can always reach out to customer service, who will hopefully be able to resolve the problem for you. Before you go, why not check out how to transfer an Amazon gift card balance if you want to gift your balance to somebody else?

TikTok is one of the most popular apps for both Android and iOS users, but there are several reasons why you might want to add it to your blocked items list. In this article, we’ll explain how to block TikTok on Android devices.

How to Block TikTok Using Android’s Digital Wellbeing Settings

Android offers a suite of Digital Wellbeing settings that help TikTok users manage their device and app usage. To block TikTok:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.
  1. Under Focus Mode, select Work time.
  1. Choose a Duration and press Start. For that entire duration, you’ll be unable to open TikTok. However, you can easily unblock TikTok by turning off the Focus Mode.

You can also limit TikTok’s screen time limits to zero minutes in order to block the social media app completely:

  1. Under Digital Wellbeing and parental controls, select TikTok from the apps list.
  2. Select App timer.
  1. Enter the value “0” for both hours and minutes, then press OK.

How to Block TikTok Using Parental Controls

The easiest way to block the TikTok app on Android is by using the parental control settings found within the Google Play Store app. To block TikTok:

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the app store.
  3. Scroll down and select Settings.
  1. Tap Family.
  1. Select Parental Control.
  1. Toggle on the Parental Controls, then create a 4-digit PIN code to enable these controls.
  1. Re-enter the passcode and tap OK.
  1. Select Apps & games.
  1. Choose the level of protection you want, then press Save.

Note: This will prevent your children from downloading the TikTok app, but if it’s already installed, they’ll still have access — so don’t forget to uninstall the app first!

How to Block TikTok Via Your Router

It’s possible to block TikTok via your router’s administration settings. By doing so, you’ll prevent any device connected to your Wi-Fi from accessing the TikTok app or website. However, if the device is capable of using a mobile internet network, you’ll be able to bypass the block by turning off Wi-Fi.

To block TikTok from your router:

  1. Log into the administration page for your router. To do so, enter the router’s IP address into your web browser’s search bar and press Enter. The IP address should be 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.0, or something similar.
  2. Locate the Parental Controls settings. Most routers will have some form of content-blocking settings, that’s usually called “Parental Controls”, “URL Filtering”, “Blocking”, or similar.
  1. Select Blacklist, then add your keywords or URLs that you want to block. Add words like “tiktok” and “tiktok.com.”
  1. Press Save and make sure the settings are toggled on. Your Android phone and other devices on your home network will now be completely unable to load the TikTok website or app.

Note: Some routers will also let you set up a window of time where you can still access the app. This is useful if you just want to limit your screen time and not block the app entirely.

How to Block TikTok With a Third-Party App

There are several third-party apps and parental control apps that will help you block websites and limit access to apps like TikTok. These apps all work very similarly, preventing you from accessing TikTok and other specific apps when you’re not supposed to (or don’t want to).

Here are three free app blockers to choose from:

  1. Google Family Link. Family Link lets you set up parental control features to block apps. To use it, navigate to Digital Wellbeing and parental controls, then select Parental Controls. Press Get Started to set up an account and block TikTok.
  1. Stay Focused: Site/App Blocker. Stay Focused is a freemium app that lets you block apps and websites and limit your online activity on the Android operating system. Simply install the Stay Focused app and add TikTok to the blocklist.
  2. Block Apps & Sites | Wellbeing. Block Apps & Sites is another third-party freemium app that lets you add installed apps to a blocklist on your child’s phone or your own mobile device. To use it, install the app then locate TikTok and select Block Now.

How to Limit Screen Time on TikTok

TikTok comes with a built-in screen time limiting feature that helps users cut down on how much time they spend on the app. This can be a useful feature for maintaining your own productivity, as well as for cutting down how much time your kids use the app.

To use the Screen Time feature:

  1. Open the TikTok app.
  2. Press your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
  1. Select the hamburger icon, then tap Settings and privacy.
  1. Tap Screen Time.
  1. Choose Daily screen time.
  2. Tap Set daily screen time and follow the on-screen instructions to set the time limits you’d like.

TikTok also offers a restricted mode that can prevent your child from accessing inappropriate content, while still allowing them to use the app:

  1. Open the TikTok app.
  2. Press your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Select Settings and privacy.
  4. Tap Content preferences.
  1. Tap Restricted Mode.
  1. Select Turn On.

Note: It’s also possible to block TikTok and limit screen time on Apple devices including iPhones and iPads.

Save Time, Stay Off TikTok

These days, it’s so easy to get distracted, open your phone, and start watching short-form videos on social media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat. The time-wasting content is so addictive that it’s hard to turn it off. Worse, social media makes it too easy for children to experience cyberbullying and witness inappropriate content.

Sometimes, the only thing to do is block the app. Hopefully, with the help of this article, you can easily add blocklists, lock your TikTok account, and regain your freedom.

Instagram isn’t the easiest place to share your thoughts and feelings if it’s in text form. You can add a message underneath your images, but what if you need to leave a longer message for your friends and followers? The best way to do this is to use notes on Instagram.

What Are Instagram Notes?

Notes are text updates above your profile photo in the Instagram app. Each note is a maximum of 60 characters, consists of text or emojis, and lasts up to 24 hours (or less if you manually remove it before that time). Notes are a great way to express yourself and connect with your friends on Instagram.

You can use notes on Instagram to share your mood, plans, opinions, or anything else that comes to your mind with your Instagram friends and followers. You can also see what your friends post and respond to their notes through direct messages (DMs).

How to Create a Note on Instagram

Creating a note on Instagram via the Instagram app is simple. Before proceeding, ensure you’ve updated your Instagram app to the latest version.

To create a note on Instagram, follow these steps. The screenshots below are from Instagram’s Android app.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone and tap the messages icon in the app’s top-right corner. The iOS icon is a lightning bolt inside a speech bubble.
  1. At the top of your messages, you’ll see your profile picture icon with a plus sign above it—tap on it to create a new note.
  1. You’ll see a pop-up window where you can type your note. You can use text and emojis, but keep your note within the 60 character limit.
  1. If you want to add music to back the message for users to hear when they open the note, tap the Music icon and select the audio you want to use.
  1. Below your text, you’ll see a Share with option—tap this to choose who you want to share your note with.
  1. You’ll have two options in the pop-up menu: Followers that you follow back or Close friends. You can choose who you want to share your notes with by tapping on the circle next to the option. If you select Close friends, you can also tap on the arrow below to edit your close friends list. Only those followers will be able to see your note. Notes are meant to be shared with groups of contacts and not individually.
  2. Press Done to save your choice.
  1. When finished, tap the Share button in the top-right.

Your note will appear above your profile photo in the messages list. It’ll remain visible to the people you selected for 24 hours.

How to See and Respond to Notes on Instagram

You (and other users) can interact with and respond to notes created on Instagram. For instance, if you view a note from one of your Instagram friends, you can reply with your message. The user will receive the message in their direct messages.

To view and respond to Instagram notes, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone and tap the messages icon in the top-right.
  1. If your friends have shared notes with you, they’ll appear at the top of the menu as chat bubbles over their profile picture. To read any shared note, tap on the note preview bubble to view it.
  1. The note will pop up from the bottom, allowing you to view it fully. You’ll also see your keyboard pop up so you can send a message in response.
  1. Type your message into the box and press Send to reply to a note. Your reply will appear as a normal unread chat in your direct messages inbox. You can also send photos, videos, stickers, GIFs, or voice messages as replies.
  1. To close the note preview, swipe down or tap anywhere outside it to return to your messages.

How to Use Notes on Instagram Effectively

The steps above will help you to create a note, but you’ll need to know how to use the Instagram notes feature effectively. Here are some tips you can use to help create notes for your Instagram followers that work for your audience.

  1. Use notes to share something interesting or exciting in your life. If you want a reaction from your friends, you’ll need to make sure your note is interesting enough to gain it!
  2. Use notes to ask questions or kick start a conversation with your friends. For example, “What are you reading these days?” or “Have you seen the latest episode of That TV Show?”.
  3. Consider using notes to plan or invite your friends to do something. For example, “Anyone up for a movie night?” or “Let’s go hiking this weekend—who’s in?”.
  4. One thing to remember—use notes sparingly and selectively. Don’t spam your friends with too many notes or share them with everyone you follow. Choose who to share them with and ensure they remain relevant and interesting.

Share Your Thoughts on Instagram

Thanks to the steps above, you can quickly use the notes feature on Instagram to share your thoughts, feelings, or important news with your closest friends and followers.

Do you want to spice up your Instagram profile? Consider creating your own Instagram avatar. If you’re having trouble with Instagram messages not sending, don’t forget to troubleshoot the problem by updating your Instagram app and restarting your phone.

Highlighting a cell, text, or part of text in a cell is the best way to draw attention to your data in Google Sheets. You can highlight text to make a reminder or to organize your data in a more readable manner. But Google Sheets lacks the highlight tool available in Google Docs. So we’ll show you several different ways to do it. You can opt for manual highlighting by changing the cell’s background or text color. Or you can use Conditional Formatting to automatically highlight text containing specific words or phrases.

1. Highlight Cells

Highlighting the entire cell is pretty straightforward. You can choose to highlight only one or a group of cells. Follow these steps:

  1. Select the cell or a group of cells you want to highlight.
  1. Select the Fill color icon from the toolbar, and choose the highlight color you want.
  1. The selected cells will automatically become highlighted with a different fill color than the others.

And that’s all there is to it. Highlighting cells might be the easiest thing to do in Google Sheets.

2. Highlight Text

If you don’t want to highlight the whole cell but only the data inside it, you can do it by changing the text color. It doesn’t matter if it’s a particular value, the whole text, or just a part of the text in a cell you want to highlight; the concept is the same.

  1. Select the text within the cell or part of the text you want to highlight. Double-click the cell with your cursor to access the text to do this.
  1. Select the Text color icon from the main toolbar, and choose the desired color.
  1. The selected text will automatically change to the color you chose from the color palette.

Note: You can use as many colors as you want to highlight your text. But remember that some colors might be difficult to read depending on the cell background color. You can combine cell and text highlight methods to achieve different effects. You can also change the formatting style of your text to Bold, Italic, or Strikethrough to put even more emphasis on the text or a cell.

3. Conditional Formatting

For data analysis, you can format the cells based on their content. For example, you can change the background color of cells with the same value. Conditional formatting will save you time if you need to highlight several different cells with the same value and you don’t want to manually search for them to select and highlight those values.

Let’s see how to automatically highlight cells that begin, end, or contain a specific value, word, or phrase, changing only the conditional formatting rules.

Note: Conditional formatting is less powerful in Google Sheets compared to Microsoft Excel. The former limits you to 50 rules per sheet, while you can create up to 256 rules in Excel to highlight your data.

1. Highlight Text That Begins With a Specific Word

  1. Select a cell (or multiple cells) that contains a specific word, phrase, or value.
  2. Open the Format menu from the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  1. Select Conditional Formatting from the drop-down menu. The Conditional Formatting menu will open on the right side of the Google Sheet.
  1. If you want to apply Conditional Formatting to multiple cells that contain the same word, you’ll have to input the range to which the formatting will be applied. Click on the Apply to Range box.
  1. When the dialog box opens, type in the range of cells where you want to apply the formatting. Look at the cell numbers and column letters and type in the range— e.g. A2:A16. This will highlight the cells that meet the conditional formatting rule .
  1. In the Conditional Formatting menu, under Format Rules (or Conditional format rules), click on the drop-down menu for Format cells if…
  1. Select Text starts with from the drop-down menu.
  1. In the Value or formula box, type in the specific word (or a custom formula) with which the cell begins.
  1. In the Formatting Style section, you can select the text and background color you want added to the text or the whole cell and text formatting options such as Bold, Italic, and Strikethrough.
  1. When you select all the desired options in Formatting Style, hit the Done button.

The cells containing a specific word will be highlighted automatically (in our example”, the word is “Best”).

2. Highlight Text That Ends With a Specific Word

You can also highlight all the cells that end with a specific word. The steps are almost the same. However, when you come to the point where you need to select Format rules, You’ll choose Text ends with from the drop-down menu.

All the steps before and after this are the same as described in the previous section. Once you are ready to apply the highlight to all the cells that end with a specific word, phrase, or value, hit the Done button.

3. Highlight Text That Contains a Specific Word

You probably guessed that to highlight text that contains a specific word you have to follow the same steps as previously described in the Conditional Formatting section. But when you reach the point to select Format rules, you’ll choose Text contains from the drop-down menu.

Select the formatting styles you desire and hit the Done button to finish.

Manually highlighting text gives you precise control over the selection process, allowing you to emphasize specific data points, labels, or insights. This hands-on method is ideal for smaller datasets.

On the other hand, automatic highlighting with conditional formatting offers efficiency and scalability. It allows you to set up rules that dynamically highlight cells based on specific criteria, making it perfect for larger datasets. After using conditional formatting, you can also filter your spreadsheet data by color.

Whether you choose the manual or automatic route, highlighting the correct text enhances the clarity and readability of your spreadsheets, so keep experimenting with both methods.

Selfie sticks are mobile phone accessories that make smartphone photography and videography versatile. Here, we recommend the best selfie sticks that work with most Android phones out there.

What to Look For in an Android Selfie Stick

You’re scrolling through Instagram, envious of those epic selfies and group photos where everything looks perfect. You’re thinking, “I want to up my selfie game too!” Before you rush off to Amazon or your local gadget store, let’s chat about what you need to look for in a selfie stick—especially if you’re Team Android.

Does It Work with My Phone?

First things first, make sure the selfie stick and your Android phone are going to be besties. Even though many sticks say they work with iPhones and Androids, you want to avoid ending up with something that snubs your Samsung. Check that compatibility list!

Is It Easy to Use?

Remember when you had to stretch your arm to take a selfie awkwardly? If you get a Bluetooth selfie stick, those days are over. Look for one with a rechargeable battery, so you’re not hunting for those weird, tiny batteries at the worst moment.

Is It Portable?

You’ll want something that can stretch out to capture more of that excellent background. But you also need it to fold up enough to fit in your bag. Even better? Grab a 3 in 1 selfie stick that works as a selfie stick, a tripod, or a phone holder.

Don’t Skimp on Quality

Sure, you can find selfie sticks that are as cheap as chips. But you get what you pay for. Opt for one made of aluminum alloy; it’s lightweight but won’t snap in half when capturing that once-in-a-lifetime shot. Remember that you’re trusting an expensive smartphone with your stick!

The More, the Merrier

If you’re adventurous, you may be vlogging or own a GoPro. Find a stick that lets you mount different gadgets. Some come with nifty tripod legs or ball joints that angle the shot.

Let There Be Light!

We’re not all blessed with perfect selfie lighting wherever we go. Some selfie sticks have a built-in ring light or even a fill light. Imagine not having to find that sweet spot in the room with perfect lighting—you can bring it!

1. ATUMTEK Selfie Stick Tripod

Look no further if you’re searching for a selfie stick that’s practically the Swiss Army knife of photography. This baby is a 3-in-1 wonder—an extendable selfie stick, a tripod, and a Bluetooth remote control. All this is fused into one sleek, black design that gives off an air of premium quality.

This is not your run-of-the-mill plastic gadget; it’s crafted from aviation-grade aluminum alloy, making it light and sturdy. The extendable arm gives you the confidence to capture that daring angle without worrying about your phone taking a nosedive.

The Bluetooth remote? You can detach it for those group shots, but its battery life is impressive. One full charge lets you snap up to 15,000 photos. And with a range of 33 feet, you could pretty much conduct your photo shoot from across the room.

The 270-degree rotatable phone holder allows you to go either portrait or landscape. Plus, it fits devices up to 3.54 inches wide, making it compatible with Android phones and even some phablets.

For portability, you can fold it down to 7.7 inches, and it’s pocket-sized. But when you need that reach, it stretches up to 31.3 inches, like going from Peter Dinklage to Yao Ming in a heartbeat.

So, if you’re serious about stepping up your selfie game on Android, the ATUMTEK Selfie Stick Tripod is a must-have.

2. BZE 40-inch Extendable Selfie Stick

The BZE Selfie Stick is a behemoth that stretches out to a towering 40 inches but also knows when to keep it compact at just 8 inches. If you’re out to capture life’s moments in all their glory, this is your tool of choice. It’s a best-seller for a reason!

Its seamless blend of a selfie stick and tripod sets this apart. Yep, it’s another 3-in-1 deal, but the BZE takes versatility to a new level. One moment, you’re holding it; the next, it’s standing on its own, no hands needed. Ideal for both selfies and steady video capturing, it’s a YouTuber’s dream gadget.

The remote shutter is a nifty addition. With a range of up to 33 feet, you can be your own director, and this little remote can take over 1,000+ photos before calling it quits. Not as much as the ATUMTEK by far, but still more than enough for most people. It works with Android and iOS, making it a universal remote for nearly all smartphones. And if you’re into heavier photography gear, it even fits DSLR cameras (and SLRs if you still use them) thanks to its universal 1/4-inch screw.

As far as the build goes, it’s a blend of aluminum alloy and ABS plastic. It’s not quite the Iron Man suit of selfie sticks, but it’s sturdy and light at the same time. It weighs just 7 ounces, so you can easily chuck it into your bag and forget it’s even there—until you need it.

3. Vproof Monopod Selfie Stick

If you think “selfie stick” is synonymous with “clunky” or “hard to manage,” the Vproof Monopod Selfie Stick will change your tune. This Amazon’s Choice product has finesse that most monopods could only dream of. Reasonably priced, this little gadget punches well above its weight.

It’s quite the chameleon, from its “magic pipe” compactness to its sleek 26-inch extension. Just 6.5 inches when folded, you can easily tuck it away in your pocket and forget about it—until you stumble upon that perfect selfie backdrop. And don’t let its lightweight, 4.8-ounce build fool you; it’s constructed of aviation-grade aluminum alloy, which means it’s as sturdy as they come.

Battery life can be a downer on many selfie sticks, but not this one. Powered by a high-quality 65 mAh button battery, you get 20-25 hours of shooting time, equating to approximately 10,000 selfies. Yes, you read that right: 10,000 selfies. And if you’re not much of a shutterbug, a single battery will last you over a month on standby.

So, whether you’re an Instagram influencer, a selfie fan, or just someone who likes capturing the moment with zero fuss, the Vproof Monopod Selfie Stick is your lightweight, easy-to-use, and super versatile companion. Plus, given its replaceable battery and solid construction, it’s an investment that’ll stick around.

4. Bluehorn All in one Portable 40 Inch Aluminum Alloy Selfie Stick

At first glance, the Bluehorn All-in-One 40-inch Aluminum Alloy Selfie Stick seems like another addition to the ever-growing family of selfie sticks. However, look a little closer, and you’ll realize it’s a piece of tech that deserves a place in your photography arsenal. Priced competitively and praised in numerous reviews, it makes its mark effortlessly.

This isn’t just a selfie stick—it’s a chameleon of gadgetry. The most compelling feature is its 2-in-1 design, effortlessly transitioning between a selfie stick and a tripod. The Aluminum alloy construction ensures it won’t easily succumb to the elements or the wear and tear of your adventurous lifestyle. It’s essentially a Jack-of-all-trades but without sacrificing quality in any department.

Are you a fan of capturing that perfect group photo where everyone is in the frame? This device can extend up to 40 inches, allowing you to capture more than faces—think background landscapes and architectural landmarks. When you’re done, it retracts to a pocket-friendly 7.9 inches. No need for a separate bag; it will slide right into your pocket.

The Bluehorn features a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, eliminating the hassle of constantly swapping out dead batteries. Couple that with a wireless remote control shutter that works up to 33 feet away, and you have a device that’s not just smart but also energy-efficient. The stick will work with your handset whether you’re using an Android or an Apple iPhone.

5. UBeesize Selfie Stick Tripod

This is a selfie stick and a tripod. It solves the eternal dilemma of choosing between a hand-held device for those “caught in the moment” selfies and a stable tripod for more composed shots.

You can easily switch between the two modes to suit your needs, offering versatility that is indispensable in today’s fast-paced, multi-platform world.

The wireless remote shutter lets you snap photos or start recording videos up to 30 feet away. No more frantic dashes; pose and click.

Compatibility issues are virtually non-existent with this device. The universal phone holder accommodates a wide range of smartphones, and the 1/4-inch screw thread makes it compatible with most digital and action cameras. Whether you’re a Team iPhone or an Android lover, this tripod covers you.

The selfie stick tripod is constructed from heavy-duty aluminum, promising durability while remaining lightweight. With non-skid tripod feet and quick flip locks, it provides the stability you need to capture crystal-clear shots. Extend it to an astounding length of 62 inches to include everyone and everything in your frame.

When you purchase this product, you’re not just getting a selfie stick but investing in a complete photography kit. The tripod selfie stick, a universal phone holder, a GoPro adapter, and a Bluetooth remote are in the box.

The UBeesize Selfie Stick Tripod offers excellent value for money. With over 79,000 positive ratings on Amazon, the reviews speak for themselves. So make room in your gadget drawer for this all-in-one marvel, and start capturing memories like a pro.

Anyone can create an account on TikTok, without verifying their age. However, if you want to change your age or birthday in the app, that’s a different matter. TikTok’s official stance is that you must be aged 13 or older to create an account, as some content on the app isn’t suitable for younger children and has been the subject of controversy after trending challenges have led to teenagers injuring themselves or others.

For this reason, if you want to change your age on TikTok, you’ll need to prove that you’re the age you’re claiming. We’ll show you how to change your age on TikTok if you entered it incorrectly when you set up your account.

How to Change Your Age on TikTok

If you’re wondering how to change your birthday on TikTok, or your age, the answer is that you can’t do this manually in the app or using TikTok on PC. It’s possible to change your username in the app, but if you want to change your age — for example, if you entered your date of birth incorrectly when you set up your account — then you’ll need to contact customer support to do this.

How to Change Age on TikTok by Contacting Customer Support

It’s easy to reach out to TikTok customer support to change your age or date of birth, and here’s how to do that:

  1. Launch the TikTok app and tap Profile in the bottom right.
  2. Tap the three stacked lines icon in the top right corner of your profile.
  3. Select Settings and Privacy.
  4. Scroll down to Support and About and tap Report a Problem.
  1. Under Topics, tap Account and Profile.
  2. Select Editing Profile, then tap Other.
  1. Choose Need More Help.
  2. Now, write a message explaining you want to change your birthday. Once you’re done, tap Submit to send the message to customer support.

It may take a few days to receive a response from customer support. When you’re contacted by the support team, the representative will ask to see a government-issued ID to prove your birthday and age. You’ll need to provide this for customer support to update your birthday and age on TikTok.

What if TikTok Support Won’t Update My Date of Birth?

Unfortunately, if you can’t provide a valid ID, your birthday and age will not be updated. If TikTok customer support refuses to change your birthday or age, you can always delete your account and create a new one with the correct birthday.

What Is Age Restriction on TikTok?

TikTok age restriction allows parents or guardians to filter out content that may not be suitable for younger viewers. Here’s how to set up Restricted Mode on TikTok:

  1. Launch the TikTok app and go to your profile.
  2. Tap the three stacked lines icon at the top right.
  3. Tap Settings and Privacy.
  4. Scroll down and tap Content Preferences.
  5. Tap Restricted Mode.
  1. Tap Turn On.
  2. Create a four-digit passcode to set up Restricted Mode, then tap Next.
  3. Confirm your passcode and tap Set.
  1. To turn off Restricted Mode, follow steps 1 through 5, then tap Turn Off and enter your passcode, and tap Next.

It’s not as simple as you might think to change your age or birthday on TikTok, which is why it’s so important to enter these details correctly — and honestly — when setting up your account. As you can see, it is possible to change these details, but you’ll need to reach out to customer support and provide ID to prove your date of birth and age. It may take a while for the support team to respond to you and action your request, and if you can’t provide ID, you might need to delete your TikTok account and create a new one.

The “Your clock is ahead” error in Google Chrome prevents you from accessing your sites, as your browser can’t validate your sites’ SSL certificates. This mainly happens when your computer’s date and time settings are incorrect, as the browser can’t match the time and date of your site’s security certificates with your machine’s time. We’ll show you a few ways to resolve this issue and get Chrome to load your sites.

Some other reasons Chrome has issues loading your sites are that your VPN or proxy server isn’t working correctly, Chrome’s cached data is corrupted, Chrome’s configuration is faulty, and more.

Set the Correct Date and Time on Your Computer

When you encounter a “Your clock is ahead” Chrome error, check and ensure your computer is using the correct date and time settings. You or someone else may have modified these settings, making your machine use the incorrect date and time.

In this case, set your PC’s time and date on the automatic mode so you always have the correct settings on your computer.

On Windows 11

  1. Right-click the current time in your screen’s bottom-right corner and choose Adjust date and time.
  2. Turn on the Set time automatically option.
  1. Enable the Set time zone automatically option.
  2. Quit Settings, relaunch Chrome, and access your site.

On Windows 10

  1. Right-click the clock in your screen’s bottom-right corner and choose Adjust date/time.
  2. Activate the Set time automatically option.
  1. Enable the Set time zone automatically option.
  2. Close Settings, re-open Chrome, and load your site.

Turn Off the VPN or Proxy Server on Your Computer

If you’re using a VPN or proxy server on your computer, turn these items off and see if that resolves your issue. Sometimes, your web browsers can’t load sites because your VPN or proxy server isn’t working correctly.

You can turn off your VPN by launching your app and toggling off the main option.

If you’re using a proxy server on your PC, use the following steps to turn that server off:

On Windows 11

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
  2. Select Network & internet in the left sidebar.
  3. Choose Proxy on the right pane.
  4. Turn off Automatically detect settings.
  1. Select Set up next to Use a proxy server and disable Use a proxy server.
  2. Close Settings, launch Chrome, and open your site.

On Windows 10

  1. Access Settings by pressing Windows + I.
  2. Choose Network & Internet in Settings.
  3. Select Proxy in the left sidebar.
  4. Turn off Automatically detect settings on the right.
  1. Disable the Use a proxy server option.
  2. Quit Settings, open Chrome, and launch your site.

Clear Chrome’s Saved Browsing Data

Chrome caches various files in the browser to improve your surfing sessions. Sometimes, this cached data becomes corrupted, causing your browser to be unable to load your sites. This may be the case with you.

In this case, clear Chrome’s saved browsing data to potentially fix your issue.

  1. Open Chrome, select the three dots in the top-right corner, and choose Settings.
  2. Select Privacy and security in the left sidebar.
  1. Choose Clear browsing data on the right pane.
  2. Select All time from the Time range drop-down menu, enable the Cached images and files option, untick all other options, and choose Clear data.
  1. Launch a new tab in your browser and try to access your site.
  2. If your site fails to load, clear all the data saved in Chrome to fix your issue.

Reset Your Chrome Browser Settings

If your “Your clock is ahead” error persists, Chrome’s browser settings might be faulty. You or someone else may have specified Chrome settings incorrectly, making the browser unable to load your sites.

In this case, reset Chrome to the factory settings to potentially fix your issue. Doing so deletes all your custom settings and lets you set up your browser from scratch. Note that you don’t lose your bookmarks, browsing history, and saved passwords when you reset Chrome.

  1. Run Chrome, select the three dots in the top-right corner, and choose Settings.
  2. Select Reset settings in the left sidebar.
  3. Choose Restore settings to their original defaults on the right pane.
  1. Select Reset settings in the prompt.
  2. Relaunch Chrome when you’ve reset the settings, then load your site.

Replace Your Computer’s CMOS Battery

If your computer doesn’t retain the correct date and time when you give your machine a reboot, your computer’s CMOS battery might be faulty or dead. This battery allows your machine to retain the correct date and time settings, even when you’ve turned off your PC.

In this case, you may have to replace your current CMOS battery with a new one. You’ll have to open your PC’s physical compartment, take the existing CMOS battery out, and place the new one in.

If you aren’t experienced in performing such tasks, we highly recommend you seek the help of a technician to perform the procedure. This is to ensure you don’t end up damaging other parts of your machine.

Make Chrome Ignore the SSL Certificate Warnings

If your issue remains unresolved, but you must access your site, you can get Chrome to ignore the SSL certificate warnings and load your site anyway. This resolves your issue for the time being and lets you access your site’s contents.

You’ll add a parameter to your Chrome desktop shortcut to make the browser ignore certain warnings. Note that this is a temporary workaround, and you should look into resolving your issue.

  1. Right-click Chrome’s shortcut on your desktop and choose Properties.
  2. Select the Shortcut tab in Properties.
  3. Put your cursor at the end of the existing text in the Target field, press Spacebar, and add the following parameter: –ignore-certificate-errors
  1. Select Apply followed by OK at the bottom to save your changes.
  2. Launch Chrome using your desktop shortcut and open your site.

Many Ways to Resolve a Clock Error in Your Google Chrome Browser

Chrome’s “Your clock is ahead” error can drive people crazy as the issue doesn’t let you access any sites in your browser. If this error message doesn’t go away despite multiple attempts to access your site, the above-mentioned methods will help you resolve your problem.

When you’ve fixed the issue, Chrome will load your sites just as it should, letting you access all your favorite content. Happy browsing!

Netflix Not Working on Roku? 8 Fixes to Try https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/netflix-not-working-on-roku-8-fixes-to-try/ https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/netflix-not-working-on-roku-8-fixes-to-try/#disqus_thread Paula Beaton]]> Fri, 15 Dec 2023 11:00:00 +0000 https://www.online-tech-tips.com/?p=99490

If you’re in the middle of streaming the latest episode of your favorite show or trying to watch a movie on Netflix when the app stops working, it can be pretty frustrating. When Netflix won’t work on your Roku, there may be several reasons for the issue. Luckily, there are also plenty of fixes to try. Whatever the problem, we’ve got 8 fixes for Netflix not working on Roku.

1. Check if Netflix Is Down

When Netflix isn’t working on Roku, the first thing to check is whether the issue is actually with Netflix’s servers rather than at your end. You can check to see if Netflix is currently down or experiencing issues using a site like DownDetector. Here, you should also be able to see comments from others experiencing similar issues. Unfortunately, if Netflix is down, there’s not a lot you can do other than wait for it to come back up.

2. Restart Your Roku

Turning things off and on again resolves a whole host of issues, and the same rings true for Roku devices. If Netflix isn’t behaving, try restarting your Roku. The method for doing this will depend on which type of Roku device you’re using. A quick restart may resolve the problem, and you could be back viewing your favorite shows in no time.

3. Check Whether You’ve Reached Your Device Limits

Though Netflix recently cracked down on account sharing, some people may still share accounts with family members in the same household. Netflix has a limit on how many devices can stream simultaneously, depending on which plan you’re on. If you find that you’re unable to watch Netflix, it may be that you’ve reached your device limits.

If you’re on the Basic plan, you can only stream on one device at a time. On the Standard with ads and Standard plans, you can stream to two devices simultaneously, while the Premium plan allows for four devices to stream at the same time. You can check which plan you’re on by going to netflix.com/account and signing into your account.

4. Check Your Internet Connectivity

Is your Roku device connected to the internet? Often a lack of connectivity or poor signal can be to blame for issues with Netflix not working on Roku. You could check your router to ensure it’s working normally, test internet connectivity on other devices, and run a connection check on your Roku device.

To do that, press Home on your Roku remote, then scroll down and select Settings > Network > Check Connection. Your device will automatically start a connection check and let you know whether or not it has been successful. If your device isn’t connecting to the internet, you could try restarting your router to see if that resolves the connectivity issues.

5. Disable Your VPN

If your Roku is connected to the internet as normal but you’re using a VPN, that could be causing issues with Netflix. The easiest way to see if this is the problem is to disable your VPN, quit Netflix, then relaunch the app and see if the problem persists. If you can access it normally, you know your VPN is the issue. You could try connecting to another location, or just watch Netflix with your VPN disabled.

6. Check Your Netflix Account

If your Netflix payment failed for any reason, that could explain why you’re unable to access Netflix on Roku. Perhaps you recently updated your payment method and entered the details wrongly, or maybe your bank has blocked payments. Just log in to your Netflix account from your PC or mobile device and check to see if your subscription has been processed as usual, or if you need to make a payment to regain access to Netflix.

7. Uninstall and Reinstall the Netflix App

If none of the above fixes have worked for you so far, why not try uninstalling and reinstalling the Netflix app? This is a good idea in case of any conflicts or settings that are affecting the app working normally. It’s also a good idea to reset your Roku device after reinstalling the app. Hopefully, once you reinstall and launch the Netflix app, it will start working as usual.

8. Check for Updates

Though your Roku device should download and install the latest updates automatically, there may be times when this hasn’t happened. Here’s how to run a manual check to see if there are any available updates for your Roku device:

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote.
  2. Select Settings > System > Software Update.
  3. Then select Check Now, and your Roku will start a check for any available updates and download and install them, if necessary.

Hopefully, one of these fixes will sort out your Netflix not working on Roku issue and get you back up and running, so you can enjoy the latest episode of your favorite shows or that movie you’ve been waiting to watch. Watching Netflix on another type of device? Check out how to fix Netflix not working on Apple TV, or our 7 fixes for Netflix not working. If none of these fixes work for you, it’s a good time to reach out to Netflix customer support, to see if they can help resolve the problem.

How to Fix a “Cellular network not available for voice calls” Error https://www.online-tech-tips.com/smartphones/how-to-fix-a-cellular-network-not-available-for-voice-calls-error/ https://www.online-tech-tips.com/smartphones/how-to-fix-a-cellular-network-not-available-for-voice-calls-error/#disqus_thread Mahesh Makvana]]> Thu, 14 Dec 2023 14:30:00 +0000 https://www.online-tech-tips.com/?p=99476

Trying to make a phone call only to be greeted with a “Cellular network not available for voice calls” error message? This error occurs for many reasons, preventing you from placing your calls. Your Apple iPhone or Android phone may be experiencing an issue, or your cellular provider may have problems causing your error. You can try a few ways to fix the issue, and we’ll show you what those are.

Some reasons you have trouble placing calls on your phone are that your SIM card is improperly installed or damaged, the phone’s data roaming option is disabled, your phone can’t find the correct cellular network to connect, your device’s operating system has a minor glitch, and more.

Check if Your Phone Has Network Coverage

When you can’t make phone calls from your phone, the first thing to check is if your phone has network coverage. You can’t make or receive calls when your phone is outside the coverage area.

If your phone’s coverage bar doesn’t show any bars, which indicates your phone isn’t connected to your carrier, move around in your area and see if you get the network.

If your error continues even after receiving network signals, follow further fixes below.

Enable and Disable Your Phone’s Airplane Mode

When your phone experiences connectivity issues, you can toggle your phone’s flight mode on and off to resolve your problem, hopefully. This is because turning on flight mode disconnects your phone from all networks, and turning the mode back off re-connects your phone to your networks, fixing your issue.

On Android

  1. Pull down twice from the top of your phone’s screen.
  2. Tap the airplane icon in the open menu to turn on flight mode.
  1. Turn off the mode by tapping the same flight icon.

On iPhone

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your phone.
  2. Tap the flight icon in the menu to turn on airplane mode.
  1. Turn off the mode by tapping the same flight icon.

Remove and Reinsert the SIM Card Into Your Phone

If your SIM card is improperly installed or damaged, that may be why you can’t make phone calls from your device. A damaged or incorrectly placed SIM card prevents your phone from connecting to your carrier, preventing incoming and outgoing calls.

You can check your SIM card’s condition by removing the SIM tray from your phone and the card from the tray. If your card’s condition looks good, place the card properly on the tray, push the tray back into your phone, and try to make a phone call.

Also, you can get a replacement SIM card from your carrier if your current card is damaged.

Restart Your iPhone or Android Phone

Sometimes, your phone’s minor glitches cause your call features to stop working. This may be the case with your phone, preventing you from placing calls.

You can fix many minor system issues on your iPhone or Android phone by restarting it.

On Android

  1. Press and hold down the Power button until a menu appears.
  2. Select Restart in the menu to reboot your phone.
  1. Try to make your phone call.

On iPhone

  1. Turn off your iPhone by pressing Volume Up + Side or Volume Down + Side.
  2. Drag the slider to finish powering off your phone.
  1. Turn on your phone by pressing and holding down the Side button.
  2. Make your voice call.

Turn On Data Roaming on Your Phone

Some carriers require you to enable data roaming to place phone calls. If you’ve turned off this option on your phone, turn the option on to resolve your issue.

Note that your carrier may charge a fee for using data while roaming. Get in touch with your network provider to learn more about the costs.

On Android

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Select Mobile network in Settings.
  3. Choose your SIM card on the list if your phone supports multiple SIM cards.
  4. Turn on the Data roaming option.
  1. Place your phone call.

On iPhone

  1. Launch Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Select Mobile Data in Settings.
  3. Choose Mobile Data Options.
  4. Enable Data Roaming.
  1. Make your call.

Choose Your Network Operator Manually

By default, your phone automatically finds and connects to your cellular provider. However, it’s worth choosing the provider manually when you have trouble placing calls on your phone. It’s possible your phone is confused about what carrier to choose, which you can fix by selecting the carrier manually.

On Android

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Select Mobile network and tap your SIM card.
  3. Choose Carrier on the following screen.
  4. Turn off the Auto select option.
  1. Select your carrier manually on the list.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Select Mobile Data in Settings.
  3. Choose Network Selection.
  4. Turn off the Automatic toggle.
  1. Manually select your carrier on the list.

Update iOS or Android on Your Phone

If your phone is using an old iOS or Android version, that can cause various issues on your device. An outdated operating system version may be why you can’t make phone calls from your phone.

In this case, update your phone’s operating system to resolve your call error.

On Android

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and choose About device.
  3. Select Software update.
  1. Download and install the available updates.

On iPhone

  1. Launch Settings on your phone.
  2. Select General > Software Update in Settings.
  1. Download and install the latest iOS updates.

Factory Reset Network Settings on Your iPhone or Android Phone

If your phone still can’t make calls and you continue getting a “Cellular network not available for voice calls” error, your network settings might be incorrect. You or someone else may have modified your phone’s network configuration incorrectly, causing the phone not to make calls.

In this case, you can reset your device’s network settings to fix your issue potentially.

On Android

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Navigate to System settings > Back up and reset > Reset phone in Settings.
  3. Choose Reset network settings.
  1. Authorize yourself using biometrics or a PIN and finish the reset process.

On iPhone

  1. Access Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Select General > Reset in Settings.
  3. Choose Reset Network Settings.
  1. Authenticate yourself and tap Reset Network Settings in the prompt.
